Concept Mapping TM:
This is a new approach to attitude and behaviour change, which has been developed by HSBI founder and CEO, Lydia Vosloo. It consists of a combination of information and techniques synthesised to create an impactful, sustainable change in the lives of participants.
“Concept Mapping”™ is becoming aware of all the factors influencing a person’s life and behaviour by mapping them and showing their relationship to one another.
This training methodology places special emphasis on:
- Recognising, understanding and changing Risk Behaviour
- Combating gender discrimination
- Delaying Sexual activity
- Understanding themselves and their bodies
- Self-respect and belief in their uniqueness and potential
- Developing Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence
- Understanding and creating wellness
- Sharing with, supporting and helping others with new knowledge
This training method is used in all of HSBI's Training Programs.
Increased Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence results in:
• A decrease in the propensity for risk behaviour
• An increase in psychological health
• An increase in wellness
Argentine Tango
We incorporate Argentine Tango into specific training programmes (It can be requested to be included in others). It is an active way to facilitate life style change, relationship management and risk behaviour prevention.

The Argentine Tango is an exciting dance. It is easy to learn and all you need to be able to do is walk!
The Lead and Follow is continually swapped between partners and so each learner must learn to listen to their partner’s body language and lead them responsibly. They must be mindful of what their partner might find difficult, must prevent them from colliding with obstacles and must help to keep them balanced.
A following partner is responsible for providing resistance if they should feel uncomfortable at any time.
Each dancer uses their individuality and uniqueness to create their own dance.
It is an excellent medium for relationship management, and the learner has an opportunity to work through any gender or personal issues, including: dominance, subservience, assertion, trust and confidence.
Learning this dance, coupled with the self-empowerment process that the rest of the program takes its learners through, helps a person to bloom with their own inner strength, constitution and self-responsibility.
“I understood the relationship between my life and dance. The lesson is that; if you are the leader in the family you must not oppress other family members. You must be patient and control your anger, in order to promote good relations and peace in the family. This helps all in the family to live together in peace and understanding.”- Home Visitor Learner |
